The large Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy) is famous for its African-American heritage and beautiful brownstone architecture. Do an internet search for "Block by Block Bedford-Stuyvesant" to see a lovely video in the New York Times about this rapidly changing neighborhood.
Bed-Stuy is a multi-cultural, up and coming neighborhood that is in transition. Some blocks are grittier than others however. We enjoy the cultural diversity of this neighborhood, quiet streets, community spirit and beautiful architecture.
Brooklyn has exploded over the past five years and is a place to explore in and unto itself. Bedford Stuyvesant is one of the most unique neighborhoods you will ever visit anywhere in the world. People are extremely friendly, greeting you on the street and there is a strong sense of community you will encounter. While there are up-and-coming elements of the neighborhood still, each week there are new bars, coffee shops and restaurants opening up as the area has emerged as a destination for in the know tourists.
